He has worked extensively in various capacities, among them as a Finance Manager of Anson Perdana Berhad, a property development company; a Senior Bank Officer of the Malaysian Office of United Overseas Bank Limited; and as an Auditor with PriceWaterhouse Coopers.
From 1997 to 2006, before being appointed as a Finance Director of KPS Konsortium Berhad, he played a key role as Group Financial Controller not only in the latter company but also in a privately owned property developer. In 2007, he held the position of General Manager, Group Finance & Accounts of PJI Holdings Berhad, and later in 2008 Chief Financial Officer of a foreign owned timber plantation and manufacturing company in Malaysia. In 2010, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Ding He Mining Holdings Limited (formerly known as CVM Minerals Limited), listed on the Main Board of Stock Exchange Hong Kong Limited. In 2014, Mr Wong also sat on the Board as an Independent Non-executive Director of ConnectCounty Holdings Berhad.
